Barakah Charity UK is proud to present Art of Recitation, a special seminar with world-renowned Qari Ibraheem Bakeer — an introduction to Maqamat and melody in Qur’anic recitation.
Shaykh Ibrahim is a world-renowned Qari, mastering both the science of Tajweed and Qiraat and the artistic modes of Maqamat, having memorised the Qur’an at just seven. He studied under legendary reciters and holds a rare ijazah with one of the shortest chains of narration to the Prophet ﷺ. With a Master’s in Quranic Science from Al-Azhar University, he has served as an Imam in over 15 countries and founded the Maqamat Institute.
This unique seminar offers a practical introduction to the theory of maqamat — the vocal modes and melodic patterns that bring beauty, emotion and depth to Qur’anic recitation. Attendees will learn how skilled reciters use tone, pitch and rhythm to produce sounds that are pleasing to the ear and moving to the heart, as the Prophet ﷺ instructed us to beautify the Qur’an with our voices. You’ll discover practical techniques to strengthen your own recitation, improve pronunciation and breath control, and bring greater khushu’ into your daily Salah, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced reciter.
